The Reddit user who made the Donald Trump CNN wrestling video has said sorry

The Reddit user credited with making the controversial video depicting Donald Trump wrestling CNN’s logo has apologised.

The user, known as ‘HanA**holeSolo’, said sorry for creating the clip, which was posted by the US president himself on his Twitter feed on Sunday.

The user was later linked to a series of racist, anti-Muslim and anti-Semitic comments on Reddit.

In an apology posted on the news sharing site on /TheDonald thread, HanA**HoleSolo said they had only been ‘trolling’.

They wrote: ‘I would also like to apologise for the posts made that were racist, bigoted and anti-Semitic.

‘I am in no way this kind of person, I love and accept people of all walks of life. I do not advocate violence against the press.

‘This has been an extreme wake up call to always consider how others may think or feel about what is being said before clicking the submit button anywhere online that an opinion is allowed.’

They said trolling is ‘nothing more than bullying a wide audience’.

The apology was later deleted from Reddit, as was the user’s account.

The user said sorry after CNN reportedly found out their real identity.

Mr Trump posted the video on his Twitter feed with the hashtags #FraudNewsCNN and #FNN.

The original footage dates from 2007, when Mr Trump appeared at WWE’s WrestleMania and bodyslammed WWE owner Vince McMahon.

In the updated clip, Mr McMahon’s head is replaced with the CNN logo.

After Mr Trump’s tweet, CNN said: ‘It’s a sad day when the president of the United States encourages violence against reporters.’
