Remaining bank holidays for 2024 as new public holiday declared
There are a number of bank holidays still to come in 2024, with a new public holiday announced for one part of the UK next month. The island of Jersey, which is separate from the UK in many respects, will be given July 15 off to commemorate the visit of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
This will mark the first visit by a reigning monarch since the late Queen's visit in 2005. The BBC reports that the holiday is expected to cost Jersey taxpayers approximately £700,000 in wages to cover civil servants taking the day off. Unfortunately, residents on the British mainland will not be observing the same holiday on July 15. However, there are still several bank holidays to look forward to in 2024 and then in 2025, reports the Liverpool Echo.
