The Sloop Inn, a popular pub in St Ives, has been sold to American businessmen. The pub, which was owned and operated by the Symons family as part of Tremorna Inns Ltd for many years, has now changed hands.

Brewco CWL Limited, a newly-formed company, is the new owner of Tremorna Inns. The company, registered with Companies House on March 19, is based at Eddington Way, Birchwood, an industrial estate located between Manchester and Liverpool.

According to Companies House, Brewco CWL Ltd has four directors: Alessandro Raul Cesan, an American citizen residing in Australia; Esteban Orlando Cesan, an American citizen residing in the US; Raul Elbio Cesan, an Argentine residing in America; and Wayne Thilwind, a Brit residing in the UK.

Scp Commercial Worldwide, a company with an address in Monaco, is also listed as having invested in Brewco CWL Ltd. Alessandro and Esteban Cesan, along with Scp Commercial Worldwide, were also listed as directors of the St Ives Brewery back in 2021.

All four are now directors of Tremorna Inns Ltd and its subsidiary Symons Inns Ltd as of June 7 after Brewco CWL acquired the Cornish business, reports Cornwall Live.

Rumours have been swirling around St Ives that the Sloop Inn, a historic pub dating back to 1312, had been sold for a whopping £10 million. Despite its prime location on the harbour front of one of Cornwall's top tourist hotspots, this price tag might seem steep for a single pub.

However, it's worth noting that Tremorna Inns Ltd, the previous owner of the Sloop Inn, also owns several other assets. These include the Pendarves Arms in Camborne, Park House in Fish Street, St Ives, which runs past the pub from the harbour, a car park at the back of the pub, a property on Park Lane in St Ives, and three cottages on The Wharf on the waterfront.

A Notice of Relevant Entity and Person with Significant Control was filed with Companies House on June 20, confirming that Brewco CWL Ltd now owns Tremorna Inns and all its assets. It states: "Brewco CWL Ltd holds, directly or indirectly, 75 per cent or more of the shares in the company (Tremorna Inns). The relevant legal entity has the right directly or indirectly, to appoint or remove a majority of the boards of directors of the company."

"The relevant legal entity (Brewco) holds, directly or indirectly, 75 per cent or more of the voting rights in the company."

Further documents filed with Companies House reveal that Harry Maurice Symons and Henry Howard Symons are no longer directors of Tremorna Inns.

While the Sloop Inn continues to trade, there has been no indication yet as to what will happen to it or its staff and the other assets now owned by Brewco CWL Ltd and what plans they may have for the future.
