Residents Evacuated After Major Blast at Ukraine Ammunition Depot

Dozens of people were evacuated after several huge explosions at an ammunition depot in Balakleya, Ukraine, early Thursday morning, March 23. The initial blast took place at about 3 am, but explosions continued through the morning.

The National Police said a 54-year-old woman was injured when shrapnel from one of the blasts struck her head. She was taken to a hospital for treatment. Credit: Artem Boronin via Storyful
