Retired Farming Social Group's Dumfries and Galloway tractor run raises money for Brain Tumour Research

More than 50 tractors of all ages made a special journey through the Stewartry on Sunday.

The Retired Farming Social Group organised the event to raise money for Brain Tumour Research after the disease claimed the life of a member.

And as well as it being a great occasion for drivers, spectators and other tractor enthusiasts, the day has so far raised more than £1,750 for the charity.

Group founder Jill Rennie, who helped Twynholm’s Drew Sloan and Gatehouse’s Jim Young organise the event, said: “We are well chuffed with how it went.

“It was a great day even if you didn’t like tractors. We had people lining the streets in Kirkcudbright and the villages.

“We had so many donations, someone even came up and handed one of the drivers an envelope.”

A total of 53 tractors, many of them vintage, took part in the journey which started and finished near Twynholm and also passed through Laurieston, Gatehouse and Kirkcudbright.

The Retired Farming Social Group is hugely grateful to everyone who took part and helped make the event a success.
