Richard Osman has hinted that he might have inadvertently run up a hefty bill for the producers of The Wheel after breaking an important rule on the BBC quiz show. The 53-year-old is set to appear as a celebrity expert in the upcoming series, but suggested it didn't quite go to plan.

Richard, who is also a best-selling author, made the admission in his The Rest is Entertainment podcast which he co-hosts with Marina Hyde. In it, Richard revealed some of the behind the scenes goings-on and was full of praise for host, comedian Michael McIntyre, reports the Mirror.

He said: "He's so brilliant, he's brilliant with the punters, he's brilliant with the celebrity experts. He absolutely drives that show through. You need constant energy on that show and he just is incredible."

However, Richard confessed that he may have caused a bit of trouble by not adhering to a specific instruction. He said: "The Wheel music is absolutely amazing. The one thing they said was, 'Don't sing along with the lyrics of the songs when you go round because they can't use it if you're mouthing the lyrics'. I mouthed along to every single one, I'm not sure if they can use it, I absolutely couldn't help myself."

Co-host Marina suggested Richard could be the "£300,000 guest". He replied: "It would literally cost them millions, but it was really a lovely experience."

Richard also revealed an incident where one celebrity had to withdraw from filming due to dizziness caused by the spinning wheel on the show. Richard, who didn't reveal the name of the famous face, said: "They were nauseous, it spins pretty quick. It's not SAS, are you tough enough? But, it's not far off!"

The Wheel's spinning nature is something Richard revealed had put off several famous faces in the past due to their fear of vertigo despite it not spinning high in the air. He said: "There's no vertigo. I had to keep telling them that it is a flat spinning wheel, like a turntable. It's not a Ferris wheel. But when I was mentioning it to various people, they'd be like, 'Oh, I'm frightened of heights'."

The BBC and Hungry McBear have been contacted for a statement about Richard's alleged rule break.
