Rihanna Doesn’t Want Fans Playing Pokémon Go At Her Concerts

Chances are you’ve heard a lot about the new mobile craze Pokémon Go over the past few weeks, with the public – and even some celebrities – becoming obsessed with the Game Boy reboot for smartphones.

As players attempt to “catch ‘em all” this summer, it’s becoming impossible to step outside without seeing crowds of people glued to their smartphone screens, trying to hunt the rarest of creatures.

And there’s a world full of Pokémon ready to be caught across multiple destinations, including universities, parks, zoos and even cemeteries – but some places are off-limits, including Rihanna’s live concerts.

During her gig at the weekend, the Barbadian singer, 28, encouraged fans to take a break from catching the pocket monsters to enjoy her performance.

Talking to the crowd in Lille, France on Saturday night (July 23), she said: “I don’t want to see you texting your boyfriends or your girlfriends. I don’t want to see you catching any Pokémons up in this b***h.”

As tempting as it might be to scope the stage for an Abra, Snorlax or Dragonite, it sounds like the Grammy award-winner is looking out for her audience, who have probably spent triple digits to hear her perform.

RiRi isn’t the only person to bemoan the app; one Beyoncé fan wasn’t impressed when he caught a woman – closer to the stage than him and only a few feet away from the star – catching a Pokémon.

Queen Bey performed at Stade de France on Thursday (July 21) as part of her Formation World Tour, but that didn’t serve as an adequate distraction from the player’s gaming addiction.

“This b**** is finding Pokémon,” the fan behind the camera can be heard saying in a video clip from the show. “She’s finding Pokémon when Beyoncé’s singing.”

Summing up every BeyHive member’s feelings, he added: “F***ing Pokémon! Look at where she is. Look at where she is. She’s next to the stage!”

Bottom line: It’s a Pokémon NO at live shows.
