A road was shut last night as fire crews battled a house blaze.

Police announced the closure of Abergele Road in Old Colwyn after emergency services were called at around 10.30pm.

They said it was shut due to an "ongoing incident". The AA said that the A547 Abergele Road was shut both ways from Wynnstay Road to Highlands Road.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to a house blaze on the road. The people in the house were able to evacuate the property.

Three pumps and an aerial ladder platform attended. The road was shut by police while firefighters tackled the blaze.

The fire service said the stop came at around midnight.
