Robber who terrified Plymouth cashier walks free from court

A Plymouth man who admitted carrying out a knifepoint robbery of a shop on Mutley Plain has been handed a suspended jail sentence.

Josh Pimlott, of no fixed abode, entered the Premier Store at around 12.45am on Wednesday, January 31 and approached a shop worker behind the till, pulled out a six-inch knife and demanded cash. The terrified cashier handed over a small quantity of money and Pimlott fled.

Following an appeal on PlymouthLive, including a CCTV image of a man police wanted to trace, 26-year-old Josh Pimlott was arrested and taken to Charles Cross police station custody suite for interview. He appeared at Plymouth Crown Court on Monday, March 11 where he pleaded guilty to robbery and possession of a bladed article in public.

He returned to Plymouth Crown Court on June 11 where he was handed a 12 month jail sentence, suspended for 18 months for the robbery and a four month sentence for the possession of the knife, to run concurrently.

Pimlott was ordered to carry out a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement up to 20 days, 200 hours unpaid work and be subject of supervision for 12 months.

He was also ordered to pay £150 court costs within six months and a victim surcharge.
