Motorists planning to use the M25 this weekend have been warned of potential delays due to electrical works. Overhead power lines which run close to the Dartford Crossing are set to be removed which will result in some impact on roads near to the Dartford Crossing.

UK Power Networks, who are managing the work, said the power lines will be removed from 7.30am on Sunday (June 30). They are being removed from pylons across the roads south of Dartford Crossing, near Littlebrook Interchange, J1A to A282 at the M25 and Cotton Lane.

Traffic must be held temporarily on a rolling roadblock on the A282 north and southbound carriageways, on both sides of the bridge, plus adjoining roads from J1A, whilst the power cables are safely lowered. Traffic must also be suspended on both sides of Littlebrook Interchange.

Each stoppage will last around ten minutes per hour. It will be repeated for four sets of cables throughout the day with traffic allowed to flow between each power line being lowered.

The temporary traffic stoppages will also be required on Cotton Lane to enable our team to safely lower the cables. The project should have no impact on existing power supplies.

A spokesperson for UK Power Networks said: "While we have planned the work to keep traffic impact to a minimum, we recognise this is a very busy area and encourage drivers to allow extra time for journeys on Sunday, 30 June."

They added: "Once the power lines are removed on June 30, our team will dismantle the pylons, and you may see this work progressing near the southern approach to the Dartford Crossing. This work will all take place at night.

"During this stage of the work, an eastbound lane closure (one of three lanes) will be in place at night on the A206 bridge between the two Littlebrook Interchange roundabouts from 30 June to 7 July from 10pm to 5.30am. This is needed to temporarily position a crane while we remove a pylon. These lane closures will be removed each morning to restore all lanes to full capacity."
