Roman Kemp wants to present 'Big Brother', and has Davina McCall's blessing

Roman Kemp has thrown his hat into the ring as a potential presenter for the upcoming Big Brother reboot — and he has the approval of original host Davina McCall.

ITV2 announced earlier this year that it is set to revive the famous reality TV format, which debuted on Channel 4 way back in 2000 and concluded in 2018 after a move to Channel 5.

Capital FM DJ Kemp told the Mirror that "there have been talks" about him helming the show and said: "I’ve always been a huge fan so I’d do my best to do it justice".

He also revealed he has secured a key endorsement in the shape of Davina McCall, who hosted the show for a decade during its original Channel 4 run.

Kemp said: "Davina and I were talking about it the other day. She said I should do it."

The radio DJ and TV personality might have some competition, though, in the shape of Big Brother superfan and popular host Rylan Clark.

He has made no secret of his desire to front the new reboot of the reality show, having launched his presenting career with spin-off chat show Big Brother's Bit on the Side after winning Celebrity Big Brother.

"There's no point in lying. Of course I'd love to go back to Big Brother, it feels like my second home. My whole life has been Big Brother," said Clark earlier this year.

While Clark is keen to get back to the Big Brother house, Channel 5 host Emma Willis is less keen — saying amid reboot rumours that the show needed "a bit more of a rest".

In August, she ruled herself out of presenting the fresh incarnation of the show, telling Radio Times that she thinks each new era should come with a new host.

Other former Big Brother presenters have also spoken about the reboot, with Dermot O'Leary — who fronted spin-off Big Brother's Little Brother — saying it should be "more of a social experiment" like it was in its early days.

Applications to be a housemate on the new Big Brother series close in January 2023, with the show expected to air later that year.
