Round up of the action in NSSCL Divisions Seven and Eight

Devon Hughes compiled a fine century to inspire Porthill Park fifths to victory over Stafford fourths in NSSCL Division Seven.

Hughes struck seven fours in his unbeaten 105 as Porthill Park racked up 209-1 from 40 overs.

Jay Bansal was also in good touch, making 74 not out, which included eight boundaries.

In reply, Stafford were bowled out for 89 in which Simon Waterhouse top-scored with 27.

Trevor Stewart (16) and Jack Morris (14) also made starts, but Balachandran Magiban’s 4-17 proved to be decisive.

Josh Allman was another batsman celebrating a ton in Betley seconds’ high-scoring win against Hanford 2nd XI.

Betley piled up 249-6 in the first half of the afternoon on the back of Allman’s unbeaten 106. He hit 15 fours.

Richard Goodwin lent valuable support with 58, while Neil Nixon weighed in with 43.

Hanford, to their credit, attacked their target as Daniel Walley made 70 and Muhammad Zaheer added 50.

Raheemullah Qadri (37) and Usama Idrees (36) also kept the runs flowing.

But they fell just short, being dismissed for 215, as Nixon scooped 3-21 and Charlie Richards picked up 3-41.

Market Drayton won on their visit to Sandbach seconds.

Mickey Allman (41) and Devon Fisher (28no) were integral to Market Drayton posting 142-5.

Andy Ford replied with 30, but Sandbach fell to 74 all out as Fisher claimed 4-29 and Ethan Allman captured 3-6.

Hem Heath fourths prevailed on their journey to Kidsgrove seconds.

Seb Lewis’ 70, which contained 10 fours, plus 30 from Jack Sanders, ensured Hem Heath stuck 155-9 on the board. Mark Challinor took 4-40.

Lea Prince top-scored with 23 after tea, but Grove were all out for 121.

Fahar Ul Islam and Elliot Rogerson snared 3-26 and 3-28 respectively.

Wedgwood seconds were comfortable winners at home against Audley thirds.

Tim Steele’s 80 underpinned Wedgwood’s 218-3 from their allocation.

Audley were then skittled for 119, despite Clint Thankachan making 57.

· CHEADLE fourths banked the points from their NSSCL Division Eight clash with Newcastle & Hartshill 4th XI.

Isaac Pyatt (47) was the principal contributor to Cheadle’s 128, in which Seb Smith took 3-14.

Ben Briggs impressed in making 37 in response, but Euan Bratt’s 3-11 saw Castle all out for 92.

Oakamoor fourths won by five wickets at Church Eaton seconds.

Four wickets apiece for Mark Fallows (4-9) and Izaac Booth (4-16) sent Church Eaton sliding to 96 all out. Richard Smith top-scored with 22. Booth then compiled an unbeaten 24 to see Oakamoor over the line.

Little Stoke thirds won their derby clash against Stone SP fourths.

Darren Irving’s 47 was the eye-catching effort in Little Stoke’s 148 all out. Dan Farrow took 3-5.

Kai Owen and Hayden Barker both made 20 for Stone SP on the resumption, but they were bowled out for 104 as Jacob Handy scooped 3-20.

Crewe seconds eased to victory at Wistaston Village 2nd XI.

Crewe posted 190-5 thanks to Frazier Dean’s 42 not out, 37 from Ravi Varma and Alan Clarke’s 30.

Wistaston were skittled for 69 in reply as Dean helped himself to 3-9.
