A new mobile service is delivering COVID-19 vaccines to Hampshire communities struggling to access vaccinations.

The vehicle, managed by NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight and backed by Hampshire County Council, is travelling throughout the county to administer vaccines near residences.

There’s no requirement to pre-schedule – those meeting eligibility criteria can walk in for a jab.

The spring campaign targets individuals 75 and above, as well as adults and children over six months old with compromised immune systems.

This includes organ, bone marrow or stem cell transplant patients, HIV-positive individuals, chemotherapy or radiotherapy recipients, and those with immune system-impacting genetic disorders.

Besides administering vaccines, the vehicle staff also offers public health guidance on subjects like blood pressure management, maintaining a healthy weight, and menopause support.

From its April 15 kick-off, the campaign has successfully administered over 70,000 vaccines.

The program is accessible to 211,000 citizens across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Those qualifying for the spring vaccination have several options. Some will receive invites from their GP practice.

Vaccinations are available at GP practices, pharmacies and via pop-up and roving clinics.

You can also book through the National Booking System, call on 119, or utilise the NHS App until June 30.

The roving vehicle will be in service till June 30 and will continue to provide public health information until August.

Location details of the vehicle and other information on the spring COVID-19 vaccination campaign are accessible at the provided website link.

In addition to the mobile vehicle travelling across Hampshire, pop-up clinics in Portsmouth, Southampton, and the Isle of Wight also offer vaccinations.

Dr Matt Nisbet, GP and clinical lead for the NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight COVID-19 Vaccination Programme, said: "This spring the vaccine continues to be offered to some of the most vulnerable people in our community.

"There is no need to book, just come along and speak to one of the friendly vaccination team who will be able to help you."

For inquiries regarding eligibility or for assistance in booking an appointment, individuals can reach the NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight COVID Vaccination Helpline on 0300 561 0018.
