Roxanne Pallett on Ryan Thomas 'punch' row: 'I got it wrong'

Roxanne Pallett appeared on Channel 5’s Jeremy Vine to give her first interview post leaving the Celebrity Big Brother house.

Speaking on the Channel 5 panel, Pallett confessed, ‘I really got it wrong,’ that she ‘wasn’t thinking straight’ and ‘massively’ apologised for her claims.

The former Emmerdale actress walked out of the Channel 5 show Friday night following a ‘punch’ row with former Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas.

The alleged attack resulted in over 11,000 complaints to Ofcom, with many claiming Pallett had exaggerated over the the severity of the incident.

“At the time it hurt. But when I looked back on that footage as soon I left the house – the first thing I did was view that clip – and I got it wrong, I really got it wrong,” she said.

“After it happened I just felt like, I don’t know how to explain… my mind ran away with me. I’m a sensitive person, my friends and family can vouch for that, everything in that house was so heightened.

Your insecurities are heightened, your sensitivities, the only thing I can explain is it was, in the moment, it felt worse than it was,” she said.

In a replayed Celebrity Big Brother scene, Pallett was shown saying that Thomas ‘deliberately’ punched her.

“It was the word ‘deliberately’ that I regret,” Pallett said.

A clip showing Thomas crying and saying ‘I’ve done nothing wrong – nothing!’ was then played.

“I massively apologise not just to Ryan but to his family and friends – to everyone who watched it and who saw an overreaction to what wasn’t a malicious act.

Because I am sensitive and I was emotional and mistook what was playful – he did apologise for it. I doubted his intention and that’s what I apologised for because I shouldn’t have questioned his motivation. I got it wrong,” Pallett said.

A tweet from former Chief Presecutor Nazir Azfal was shown:

“I have suffered from domestic violence in the past,” Pallett said.

“I am taking this massively seriously. I am aware that I overreacted. I apologise to everyone that I offended,” she said.

She went on to defend her decision to appear on the Channel 5 panel show:

“I chose to be here today. In fact I was advised not to. I’m not getting paid for this interview, I wasn’t told to do this interview. In fact it’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, to come here today.

“It’s affected my family, my friends, people that have detached themselves from me. This is my reality now. I’m here today to acknowledge a mistake.”

Celebrity Big Brother continues on Channel 5 tonight at 9pm.
