Rugby player gets hit so hard he vomits on the pitch as fans gasp when moment shown on big screen

An Australian rugby league player got hit so hard by his opponent that he vomited on the pitch.

The moment took place in a game between New Zealand Warriors and Penrith Panthers, with the Kiwi outfit securing a shock 22-20 victory.

Reaching for the ball above his head, Panthers centre Jack Cole could barely prepare himself for the thumping hit to come from Adam Pompey.

In a perfectly-timed effort, Pompey sliced through Cole, forcing him to lose control of the ball in the process.

As if things couldn't get any worse, the broadcast cut to Cole after the replays were shown, only for the poor man to be sick while he tried to regain his composure.

The commentator even exclaimed "Ooh!" as the footage was shown on the big screen, backed by a chorus of the same from the crowd inside the stadium. Fans have also been reacting to the footage online, with one writing: "Sweet baby Jesus, some hit that! #bosh."

Following that loss, Panthers are third in the NRL league table, and Warriors climb to 13th.
