RuPaul's Drag Race US season 16 finale spoilers follow.

RuPaul's Drag Race has just announced the release date for All Stars 9.

Hot on the heels of the final episode of season 16, in which Nymphia Wind was crowned as the latest winner, World of Wonder has announced when we can see the next batch of returning contestants start to battle it out for the win.

In a short video, it was confirmed that All Stars 9 will premiere on May 17. In most territories (excluding the US, Canada and Australia), it will be available on WOW Presents Plus. The US will get it via Paramount+.

The brief clip hints at a superhero theme for the full promo, as Ru states that "The time has come, for drag queens to save the world" and stands in a very heroic pose.

The cast hasn't been announced yet, but multiple queens disappeared from social media and live performances at the same time last year, leading to rumours that they were filming the season. Queens speculated to be returning include Paris Hilton's best mate Gottmik, Vanessa 'Miss Vanjie' Mateo, and 'Read U Wrote U' rapper Roxxxy Andrews.

Season 8 of All Stars aired last year and saw Canadian queen Jimbo crowned the winner after dominating the competition, while Heidi N Closet quit the competition part way through.

Meanwhile, a second season of Canada vs the World and a sixth season of RuPaul's Drag Race UK are expected to air later this year, alongside various international seasons.

Down Under season 4 is also set to air this year, but with Michelle Visage as host after Ru stepped down.
