Rylan Clark has revealed that he’s been “banned” from partying with Eurovision Song Contest entrants. The 35-year-old is currently out in Malmö, Sweden for this year’s contest in which Olly Alexander is representing the United Kingdom with his track Dizzy.

Although very busy preparing for the event, which sees him commentation for BBC Radio 2, Rylan found time to chat to Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary on ITV’s This Morning on Friday, May 10. It was here that he was quizzed on partying with entrants.

“I've been in trouble before,” Rylan shared. “I've sort of been banned from taking the acts out since 2019, when I took Michael Rice (former UK entrant) out the night before the jury show and brought him in at 8am in the morning, bless him."

Rylan added: “I'm not gonna lie, I've been really good this year. I've been really, really good. I've been to the Euro Club once, and bearing in mind it's actually in the hotel that we live in, so I can actually roll into bed, which is even better, but I've only been once. Tonight might be the night. I heard that Diane from The Traitors was there last night so I mean, what's not to love?”

Elsewhere in the interview Alison quizzed Rylan on whether he would ever consider representing the UK himself, considering he’s been involved in the UK’s coverage since 2018. “I threaten the delegation every single year and whenever I don't get my own way with something I go, ‘I'm telling you now, speak to me like that again and I'm going to represent us next year!’ Listen, it's always been a dream of mine. Who knows what might happen in the future?”

This year is Olly Alexander’s time to shine though and he’ll perform at the grand final of Eurovision over the weekend. The 33-year-old singer and actor – who you can read more about here – will be hoping he has better luck than he did at the semi-finals as he was plagued with many problems.
