Samsung Galaxy Buds for S10 are like Apple AirPods but with one key difference

The latest Samsung Galaxy S10 leak has revealed the Apple rival's answer to the AirPod wireless earphones, expected to be called the Galaxy Buds.

An image of the headphones in a charging case appears to show them resting on the as-yet unreleased Galaxy S10 smartphone.

Previous rumours surrounding Samsung's next flagship smartphone suggest it will support reverse wireless charging, meaning it can share its battery power with other phones and devices nearby.

The positioning of the Galaxy Buds on top of the phone hints this feature will work with the new earphones – making them truly wireless.

Wireless charging was meant to be rolled out with the Apple AirPod earphones, but the wireless charging system still hasn't been released more than two years after the launch of the AirPods.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S10, together with accessories like the Galaxy Buds headphones, at an event on 20 February.

The Galaxy Buds, leaked to German publication WinFuture, are expected to cost €149 (£130) and will go on sale alongside the Galaxy S10 range of smartphones in early March.

Samsung will not be the first smartphone maker to introduce reverse wireless charging capabilities, with the Huawei Mate 20 Pro able to share its battery with other phones.

By placing a charging coil in the back of the smartphone, the Mate 20 Pro can receive as well as give power – even if the receiving device is an iPhone or other Android phone that supports wireless charging.

Other highly anticipated features of the Samsung Galaxy S10 include an in-screen fingerprint sensor and a market-leading 1 terabyte internal storage capacity.

While no official details have been revealed about the new Samsung phone, numerous leaks mean many of the details are all but confirmed.

Firstly, there wil likely be three versions of the Galaxy S10, each ranging in size, specs and price.

An entry-level Samsung Galaxy S10e will be complimented by a standard Galaxy S10 and a premium Galaxy S10+.

Each will forego the 'notch' design pioneered by Apple for its display, instead using a hole-punch design to incorporate front facing technologies like cameras and sensors.

The price of the new phones will range from £700 to £1,500, depending on the model and the specs.
