Three arrested for murder after woman with ‘amazing soul’ found dead in her home

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a mother was found dead in her home over the weekend.

The victim has been named locally as Sarah Ashwell Joice, 47, an ex company director whose body was discovered at an address in Wells, Somerset, on Sunday afternoon.

Avon and Somerset Police said that a third man was arrested on Tuesday, adding to two arrests in the hours following Ms Joice’s death.

And although no formal identification has taken place yet, several friend have already started paying tribute to Ms Joice, who was described as a "lovely lady” and an “amazing soul”.

One friend, Dovile Gudeleviciute, 29, said: "I can't believe it. I can't stop thinking about her.

"I can only say she was an amazing and happy soul. She was very friendly and amazing friend.

"I'm heartbroken and just wish the truth will come to light so her soul can be in peace. I feel very sorry for her two boys and her family."

Another friend said everyone was shocked by what happened.

They added: "It is so shocking. Things like this don't happen around here.

"It is heartbreaking for everyone who knew her. She was such a lovely lady and we are all sending our love to her boys and the rest of her family.”

Other local residents reacted with shock at the incident.

One neighbour said: "It's devastating to hear what happened to her. We are all in complete shock.”

Neighbourhood Chief Inspector Sharon Baker, from Avon and Somerset Police, said: “Our thoughts are with the family as they mourn the loss of their loved one. A terrible tragedy has touched our community and we’re working hard to bring those responsible to justice.

“We understand people may have concerns and we’ll be maintaining our uniformed presence in the area in the coming days.”

Police are urging anyone with CCTV dash cam or phone footage of South Street over the weekend, along with anyone who saw anything suspicious, to contact them on 101.
