Before and After Satellite Images Show Catastrophic Flooding in Libya

Satellite images captured by Maxar Technologies on September 13 showed the aftermath of the catastrophic flooding that killed over 5,300 people in Derna, Libya.

Classes would be suspended across the country for 10 days in solidarity with the victims, government officials said on Wednesday.

The dams along the Wadi Darnah river failed when Storm Daniel hit Libya on Sunday, causing much of Derna to be swept away, according to the Red Crescent, which was providing emergency support in the area.
