Scores on the doors: Nine south Essex businesses handed new food hygiene ratings

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to nine south Essex establishments; as shown on the Food Standards Agency’s website.

The scheme awards businesses with a rating from five to zero, with five meaning the hygiene standards are very good, and zero implying urgent improvement is required.

Here are the establishments in south Essex that have been awarded a new hygiene rating:

Southend:

Chicken Eat at 86 London Road, Southend was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on May 9.

Sababa Southend at 21 Clifftown Road, Southend was handed a three-out-of-five rating after assessment on May 17.

Basildon:

Stephens Bouquet at 61 High Street, Wickford was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on June 19.

Curry Garden / Taj Mahal at The Parade, 3 High Road, Pitsea was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on June 13.

St Andrews Coffee Morning at St Andrews Church, London Road, Wickford was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on June 12.

Sprinkles Gelato at Unit 8d Festival Leisure Park, Festival Way, Basildon was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on June 4.

The Posh Boys Brewery at 8 Riverside House, Lower Southend Road, Wickford was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on June 18.

Castle Point:

South Benfleet Social Club, a pub, bar or nightclub at 8 Vicarage Hill, South Benfleet was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on June 24.

Papa John's Pizza, a takeaway at 204 London Road, Hadleigh was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on June 19.
