New services, improvements taking place in Laurel

Mar. 8—Progress continues to take place in London and Laurel County, as outlined by the February update by London Laurel County Economic Development's executive director, Paula Thompson.

Motorists along Old Whitley Road (KY 1006) near Greer Industrial Park will see construction this summer as widening of roadways will begin. The increased traffic from Greer Park and the Dennis Karr Airpark necessitated an additional traffic lane that will run from U.S. 25/KY 1006 intersection and continue past the FedEx facility. This additional lane will help alleviate the traffic backups.

Also near Greer Park near the Dollar General Store by the entrance to Levi Jackson Park is a new spec building. Footers are being installed for a 12,000 sq. ft. building that will be available for occupancy this spring.

Construction for the new Lily Fire Department is underway at the intersection of Greta Lane and Fariston Road and will adjoin the Lily Industrial Park.
