Sex And The City fans were left fuming over a “sloppy” mistake in sequel And Just Like That.

The second series of the show started this week, with Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon reprising the roles of Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda.

But viewers were unimpressed with one scene that saw Harry, Charlotte’s husband of many years, saying his mum had been dead for a decade – when in the original show she had died before Charlotte and Harry even met.

“Plot hole!" one baffled fan tweeted.

"Harry just said his mother has been dead for 10 years. Except when his character debuted in 2002, she was already dead.”

“What is this timeline?” asked another viewer, as one suggested: “Storyline fact checkers needed.”

“Why would they say Harry’s mom has been dead for 10 years when she was dead in the season 5 finale literally over 20 years ago,” another viewer asked.

One stormed: “Harry’s mom died before he met Charlotte that was the whole reason she converted to Judaism so they could get married after he broke up with her because she wasn’t Jewish, it was a huge story arc in #SATC & not one person spotted this error?!

"Terrible writing.”

Someone else said it was “sloppy” and another fan called out bosses for “bad continuity”.

"I felt this so hard!" one person remarked.

"Really disrespectful to the fans of the original series. As if we wouldn’t remember that detail. Poor/lazy writing."

One fan suggested: "Maybe they need to rewatch the OG and take notes! This is just lazy writing!

"There’s no reason they can’t check the continuity before putting something like that in the script."

And Just Like That started in 2021 and follows the Sex And The City characters as they navigate lives in their 50s.
