Sharleen Spiteri has told how her daughter was so busy staring at Sam Smith that she stepped in front of a car.

Model Misty, 18, was rushed to hospital after the scary incident last year.

She suffered a dislocated shoulder but her mum said she was lucky it wasn’t worse.

The Texas star said it happened just before lockdown in 2020, and that Misty was starstruck when she saw Stay With Me Smith singer walking near her college in London.

“My daughter got knocked down a couple of days after my mum’s funeral,” she told The Sun, explaining: “She walked out of college and saw Sam Smith walking down the street and she was that busy staring at them that she walked out in front of a car.”

Misty’s college contacted Spiteri, 53, to tell her what had happened and that an ambulance was on its way.

When she arrived there, the singer saw a car with a smashed windscreen and said her “stomach was turning”.

But she soon spotted the teenager and ran over to find out what had happened.

The star had thought Misty had been on her phone when she was knocked down but then discovered that she had been distracted by the Smith sighting.

“I could have killed her – she got a serious b********g,” said Spiteri.
