Sharon Osbourne has said she was forced to return to the UK after being "blacklisted" in America.

The 70-year-old TV presenter was fired from US chat show The Talk on CBS in March 2021 after she defended friend Piers Morgan for his comments about Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Osbourne told This Morning: "I can't get arrested in America. It went wrong, it went very, very wrong.

The former X Factor judge and wife of Black Sabbath rocker Ozzy Osbourne - insisted she never used 'hate speech' against the Duchess of Sussex or anyone.

She said: "I can look at myself in the mirror. I know I over talk and I can be a bit overbearing. But I've never spoken with hate.

"I say what I feel, I'm confrontational but I don't do any hate speech."

Osbourne now presents The Talk in the UK on Talk TV and she and husband Ozzy are to star in a new documentary series about their life on BBC.

The couple and their children Jack and Kelly Osbourne were propelled into the spotlight when they previously starred in MTV reality show The Osbournes between 2002 and 2005, which filmed their everyday lives inside their home. The series set the model for many celebrity docu-dramas to come.

Morgan was forced to quit ITV breakfast show Good Morning Britain in 2021 after he sparked a record number of complaints by saying he did not believe claims made by Meghan Markle about her mental health and suicidal feelings in the interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Osbourne then defended him on an episode of The Talk, to the point that she argued with co-host Sheryl Underwood over whether Morgan had been racist. Osbourne also said she had been accused of being a racist herself for standing by him. Following the on-air clash Osbourne issued an apology two days later, and CBS launched an internal review of the incident, even briefly shutting down production.

Meanwhile, former The Talk co-hosts Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini, as well as others, alleged that Osbourne herself had made racially-charged comments over her 11 years on the talk show; Osbourne refuted their stories.
