A man has been found hidden in the hollowed-out bumper of a car after being smuggled over the Moroccan border.

This shocking image was taken after police attempted pull over a Mercedes in Melilla, the autonomous Spanish city in northern Africa.

The police had approached the car, believing something was not right.

Realising he was about to be caught, the alleged smuggler took off back towards the border, with officers following in a high-speed pursuit.

When they eventually stopped the car, they found a man, 24, and a boy, 11, hidden in the vehicle.

One was hidden in the front console of the car, in a false bottom, while the other was found behind the back bumper.

The man in the back bumper could be heard crying for help as the police approached.

The migrants, both of Saharan descent, were given first aid treatment and are said to have recovered quickly.

In a separate incident in the city, police discovered a man tied with ropes to the bottom of a Renault.

He was discovered after officers used a high-tech heartbeat detector.

The man was given medical attention as he was also struggling to breathe, but also made a speedy recovery.

All three of the migrants will face charges, but have been granted bail. The drivers are facing jail terms as well as hefty fines.
