SHOPS were evacuated after a gas leak in Bournemouth town centre.

SGN was called to Westover Road yesterday, May 21, after part of the gas network was damaged under The Gym in Westover Road.

The gas company evacuated the buildings between The Gym and KFC, including Moss Bross and Alfa Menswear.

The situation was made safe, with the part of the network that was damaged isolated and the pavement was temporarily closed.
