Fans are still wondering how Silicon Valley is going to work without Erlich Bachman now TJ Miller has bowed out of the show – but if they're hoping for a return, they'll be disappointed to hear there was a sour relationship behind the scenes.

Following the 'mutual' decision for him to leave, Miller has hit out at the show's executive producer Alec Berg, saying they had a "challenging, very frustrating" relationship.

Miller told The Hollywood Reporter : "I don't know how smart [Berg] is. He went to Harvard, and we all know those kids are f**king idiots. That Crimson trash.

"Those comedy writers in Hollywood are f**king Harvard graduates and that's why they're smug as a bug.

"I think that in television you usually have one element that is very challenging, very frustrating. It's an obstacle, right?

"So you're doing the best work that you can do. Alec was that for me, and I think I was that for Alec."

He continued: "I didn't talk to Alec because I don't like Alec, but I think Mike Judge and [co-executive producer] Clay Tarver are brilliant."

For his part, Berg has said he wouldn't rule out a return for the character, but Miller doesn't sound keen, saying his dad backed his decision to leave because the show was getting a bit "stale".

"So I had the perfect father-son moment with him going, 'Yeah, it's starting to kind of suck. It's a little stale. You're becoming a bit hack'. If I can trust anyone in terms of comedy, it's my father.

"I thought this is definitely a good idea if he's saying, 'I'm getting sick of watching you. Why don't you do something else?'"

Silicon Valley, which follows Pied Piper founder Richard (Thomas Middleditch) and his ever-changing tech company, will return to our screens on HBO next year.
