A free event to celebrate skateboarding is coming to Hull.

For the first time, Go Skateboarding Day will be celebrated in the city. Since 2003, Go Skateboarding Day held on June 21 has celebrated skateboarding worldwide, helping it become more accessible.

The free event will be held at Humber Quays on the Hull marina from 5pm to 7.30pm. The event welcomes the most experienced and inexperienced people curious about skateboarding, as well as giving out prizes and creating a sense of community.

"I’d personally like to thank Hull City Council for supporting the event and promoting Skateboarding as a healthy activity around the city, also The Spencer Group & Charlie Spencer, who is the land owner for letting us use the land to run this event. The space on Humber Quays is such an amazing area to go Skate, also other wheeled sports use the area frequently, it is brilliant Charlie is supporting this."

Hull City Council pumped significant funding into creating ten new facilities for skateboarding as a part of its ten-year Cultural Strategy back in 2016. In 2021, interest in skateboarding took a significant step when it debuted at the Tokyo Olympic Games, something that Mr Regan himself has been involved in.

Paul first got into the sport over 20 years ago when he played a copy of the iconic 2000s videogame Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. In the following years, Paul's career has seen him as a local figurehead supporting the sport, and at one point even becoming the director of skateboarding at a national level, which helped push for a Team GB skateboarding team in the Olympics.

The main event for Hull's first Go Skateboarding Day will be held at The Marina on Friday, June 21 from 5 pm - 7:30 pm. An afterparty will be held at DIVE HU5 from 8:30 pm - 11:30 pm.
