Sketch is about to be transformed into a magical winter wonderland

Mayfair restaurant sketch is about to undergo a rather glamorous makeover in the name of all things Christmas.

Dulce Domum (Sweet Home to those of us not schooled in Latin) is the inspiration behind 2018's festive installation and will see guests and diners waltz through a fantasy scene in each of the restaurant's now iconic dining spaces.

"The theme this year was inspired by a chapter in Kenneth Grahame's Wind in the Willows" says sketch's Marketing and Media manager Ellen Payne. "It's all about home sweet home. From a traditional Christmas walk to gift giving, we wanted to recreate all the classic yuletide moments rolled up into one."

Installations include a knock out facade and entrance hall designed by Tony Marklew, a Christmas day walk complete with cottage and snowfall by Carly Rogers and an ultra snazzy hologram telling the story of shamans and the winter solstice commissioned by Kinetica Museum and Diane Harris. It's all very pagan glitz. And, yes that is indeed a thing now.

Other surprises include an enchanted 'découpage forest' courtesy of British lighting designers Tala, as well an 5m gold and silver Christmas tree representing the virtues of Peace, Giving, Joy, Love & Reflection crowning the two-Michelin-starred Lecture Room & Library.

For London's Instagram posse, you'll be stoked to know that the infamously famous sketch loos will be covered in wrapping paper and tied with ribbons and bows. Think of the likes people, the likes!

In addition to all the 'gram papping, the Gallery - the pink room - will be serving a special festive afternoon tea. Imagine ultra fizzy champagne, crazy cakes and music from live choirs. There will also be a bonus 'twinkle-toed' surprise when the clock strikes, too. Santa, we imagine.

Sadly, there are no photos of the Christmas takeover yet, but if it's anything like Chris Levine's futuristic laser disco party last year, it's going to be just as fabulous.
