One of Tennessee Williams' best-known works will come to London's West End this summer, complete with an A-list cast.

The Young Vic has announced that Sienna Miller and Jack O'Connell will star in a new production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, which will open at the Apollo Theatre this July.

Following the success of his production of A Streetcar Named Desire in 2014, Benedict Andrews will direct the 1955 play which tells the story of a Mississippi family's fight for survival.

The play won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in the year of its release, and was made into a film starring Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor in 1958.

Miller, who was last on stage in the West End as Patricia in Flare Path at the Haymarket Theatre, will play Maggie (the Cat) opposite O'Connell's depiction of Brick, the play's broken man.

He appeared on stage last year in The Nap at Sheffield Crucible, and received the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2015.

There are a few months to wait before we get to see Miller and O'Connell perform, but the play has already proved to be popular.

A few hours after the production was announced, The Young Vic revealed that its website was struggling to handle the numbers of visitors trying to book tickets.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof will preview from July 13, and will run until October 7.
