A SKIPTON couple are celebrating after their small hotel was a winner in television reality show Four in a Bed.

Lee Sharville and Janette Maude, owners of The Curious Fox in Chapel Hill, were given top marks by the owners of three other bed and breakfast businesses in the long running Channel 4 series.

Each business hosted the other owners for an overnight stay and were marked on cleanliness, facilities, quality of their sleep, the breakfast and whether they'd stay again. They also all paid each other what they thought the stay was actually worth.

Each of the business owners were unaware of where they were staying before they were given instructions on the day of their arrival, having spent the previous day getting to know the area.

Two of the three other businesses paid Lee and Janette the full amount of their stay while one couple knocked just £5 off the bill, making the Skipton couple the overall winners, and crowned best hosts.

During their stay in Skipton, which was filmed last year, the couples took a ride on a narrow boat with Skipton Boat Trips, and paid a visit to Ackroyd's Bar.

All were highly impressed with professional chef Lee's signature breakfasts, including 'old school', 'foxy smash' and 'the crunchy chill', with comments including 'dream breakfast', 'exquisite' and 'master chef'.

Lee met Skipton-born Janette in Ibiza, where she was on holiday with friends and where Lee had a restaurant. They opened The Curious Fox just more than two years ago.

Lee said he was immensely proud that the business had been crowned winners and paid tribute to Janette; he added it had been really difficult to keep quiet about it for more than a year.

The Curious Fox has seven rooms, and is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and griddle.
