There is a snake somewhere in this photo - but can you spot it?

Snakes are experts at camouflage but sometimes they just take it too far.

No poor critter would stand a chance spotting the slippery serpent near it in this photo as it seems to have turned itself invisible.

Even by snake standards, this one is a legendary camouflager, managing to hide itself among twigs and leaves.

You might think you are good at these kind of things, but this snake is seriously difficult to find.

Can you spot it?

You might think there is no snake in this photo posted by Twitter user @SssnakeySci at all – and you wouldn’t be a bad person for thinking that.

However, it is very much there so if you struggled to see it, then here is the answer:

Adjust your eyes – even circled it can be initially difficult to make out the snake but once you see it, its scaly patterns are unmistakeable.

The snake in question is a Copperhead, aka Agkistrodon contortrix and is venomous so it’s best not to get too close if you do ever mange to see one…
