Soccer Aid 2024: Who is Jill Scott playing for England?

Man City legend Jill Scott will return to the world’s biggest charity football match against top celebrities.

Thousands of fans have grabbed tickets to watch former professionals and stars feature in a World XI and England game to help aid charity UNICEF.

Soccer Aid will see former Lioness and Euro 2022 winner Jill Scott return to the pitch at Stamford Bridge on 9 June for its 13th return.

Scott’s career began with her hometown Sunderland before moving to Everton in 2006 leading to the Women’s FA Cup victory in 2010. When Jill switched to Manchester City in 2013 she lifted the FA Women’s Cup three times and the FA WSL Cup in 2016.

The professional footballer competed at four World Cups and three European Championships and appeared at the London 2012 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

After her retirement in football in 2022 Scott went on to win the twenty-second series of I’m a Celebrity and was crowned Queen of the Jungle.

Scott will return as Captain after taking the role for England in Soccer Aid 2023 but World XI FC won the fixture and are on a record five-year winning streak.

Speaking about taking part in the charity match, Jill said: "UNICEF is so special because the money they raise is amazing. Also, when it comes to the match itself, when do you ever get to see such a brilliant mix of stars from the footballing and entertainment world come together to play a game of football? UNICEF change so many lives with the money raised and hopefully this year we can surpass the £100m mark."

England will take to the pitch in a specially commissioned Euro ‘96 kit ahead of Euro 2024 – the first game just five days after Soccer Aid. The Soccer Aid World XI FC will wear Adidas with a limited edition kit for the first time ever.

Scott will join the England team with Sir Mo Farah, Steven Bartlett, Jermain Defoe, David James (Professional Goalkeeper), Gary Cahill, Joe Cole, Karen Carney, Sam Thompson, Bobby Brazier and Eden Hazard.

More teammates include Miniminter, Paddy McGuiness (Celebrity Goalkeeper), David Seaman (Goalkeeping Coach), Tom Grennan, Jack Wilshere, Alex Brooker, Erin Doherty, Steven Bartlett, Danny Dyer, Theo Walcott and Ellen White.

The World XI FC line-up features celebs and former pros including returning team favourites Usain Bolt (Captain), Jesus Perez (Coach), Roman Kemp, Martin Compston, Lee Mack, Theo Baker, Tommy Fury, Maisie Adam, Eden Hazard, Diamond, Roberto Carlos, Kaylyn Kyle, John Obi Mikel, Jason Manford, Petr Cech, Patrice Evra and Michel Essein.

Frank Lampard joins Harry Redknapp and Robbie Williams as England manager and facing them down will be Mauricio Pochettino, returning as manager for Soccer Aid World XI.

The live show will be hosted by UNICEF UK Ambassador Dermot O’Leary, who will be joined by Alex Scott with Sam Matterface and Iain Stirling commenting again.

Soccer Aid takes place on Sunday 9 June at Stamford Bridge.
