Son charged with murder of 'kind' mum found dead in her own home
A man has been charged with the murder of his mother, after she was found dead in her own home.
The body of Mary Page, who had suffered a head wound, was found at her terraced home in James Street, Bilston, Wolverhampton, on Friday, West Midlands Police confirmed.
Her son Matthew Page, 40, was arrested that evening. He has now been charged with murdering Mrs Page, detectives said.
A post-mortem examination was carried out on Saturday but proved inconclusive.
However, the force confirmed the 68-year-old had suffered a head wound.
Matthew Page, who worked as a van driver, was charged after being questioned by detectives and is due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
A statement from the victim’s family read: “Mary Page: a kind animal-lover and mother whose life was tragically cut short.
“She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.”
Mrs Page’s relatives, who are currently being supported by specialist police officers, issued a brief tribute and a photograph, through the force.
