Son Heung-min makes Tottenham demand with Aston Villa almost out of reach

Son Heung-min has demanded that Tottenham Hotspur must give it 'everything' in their remaining matches in what appears a pretty futile final attempt to chase down Aston Villa and pip the Lions to the final remaining Champions League spot. Spurs have lost their last four league matches and that run has left Villa on the brink of a fourth placed finish this season.

That's despite the fact that Villa themselves have only taken one point from the last six available; they surrendered a two-goal lead at home to Chelsea last weekend and then, this past Sunday, were deservedly beaten at Brighton and Hove Albion on the back of their first leg Conference League semi-final defeat to Olympiacos.

Spurs were well beaten by Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday. That followed heavy defeats to Newcastle United and Chelsea, as well as the narrow loss to rivals Arsenal on home soil last weekend. They have Manchester City still to play, as well as the bottom two in the division, while Villa welcome Liverpool and then head to Crystal Palace.

Villa head into their final games with a seven-point cushion having played a game more. With Villa's superior goal difference, even a point from their remaining matches will be enough, although a victory against either the Reds or Palace would make it mathematically certain. Tottenham, meanwhile, have no choice but to win all three remaining games and hope for Villa to endure a similar run to the one they're currently on.

“Everyone wants to play Champions League. Three games to go and we have to give it everything, keep believing in our game and give everything," Son said after their latest defeat at Anfield.

"Sometimes like Thursday it was not part of our game, we were very disappointed, also Sunday was very, very disappointing but I think we are on right track and don’t forget it's the manager’s first season and first in the Premier League. We are definitely on the right track, don’t get me wrong four games adds to this pain but we have to work to get better."
