Lucky residents in a Staffordshire street ended last week on a huge high - after scooping a £30,000 cash prize. The windfall comes after ST15 8NX in Stone was announced as the winner of Sunday's draw.

Meanwhile, families in Weavers Walk and Frobisher Drive, Swynnerton, are now £1,000 richer after their postcode, ST15 0QZ, claimed the prize on June 21.

And households in Ashcroft Grove, Bradwell, with an ST5 8ES postcode also scooped £1,000 on June 18, as did residents in Featherbed Lane, Hixon, with an ST18 0QS on the same date.

It's not the first time the region has had a lucky week in the Postcode Lottery. Last year, eight Stokies landed a share of £280,000. Residents on Hatherton Avenue, in Chell, each pocketed £30,000. “It’s life-changing," 35-year-old Rhian Pimblot said. "It’s exciting what we can do with this amount of money."

And teacher Debby Heavey was among five neighbours who won a staggering £310,000 each thanks to their ST7 8LR post code in Bignall End in February 2021. A further 799 families in the ST7 8 area won prizes of between £7,004 and £1,751.

The Postcode Lottery launched in the UK in 2005. Players sign up with their postcodes and pay £12 per month to be automatically entered into all draws. Each month, winning postcodes are chosen at random and all participants sharing the postcode split the prize.

A Postcode Lottery spokesman said: "New research has discovered the luckiest postcodes in the UK, with Stoke-on-Trent (ST) ranking ninth. By far, the luckiest area in the Postcode Lottery is Preston, with 41.36 wins per postcode district on average. In total, there have been 455 wins in the Preston area, spread over the city’s 11 different postcode districts. A 2018 draw saw one player win a new car and £50,000, while another draw in 2020 saw six players win £1,000 each."
