In one of the most unlikely showbiz pairings, Reese Witherspoon has signed Stacey Solomon to star in her new show.

Solomon will front the Channel 4 production Bricking It, which is made by the Hollywood star’s production company Hello Sunshine.

The actress reportedly poached the Loose Women star from the BBC’s Sort Your Life Out series for what will be Hello Sunshine’s first UK show.

Speaking about her new show and collaborating with the Oscar winner, Solomon said: “From an early age, my dad taught me DIY and the importance of fixing things yourself where you can.

“I still find it so satisfying to build or repair around the house and it saves loads of money.

“I am beyond excited to work with Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine on their first ever UK project.

“They are all about empowering women, and what could be more empowering than a power tool.

“It’s a dream come true to share my DIY hacks with everyone at home.”

A TV insider told The Sun: “This is huge news for Stacey and proof of her growing status in the TV world.

“To be on Reece’s radar is mighty impressive and her company was adamant they wanted Stacey to front the new show.

“This could lead to even bigger jobs across the pond if she impresses, so Stacey is chuffed to be on board.”

In the series, Solomon will assist homeowners who’ve been let down by bad builders, sharing cost-effective tips with them so they can complete the job by themselves.

She will also help with tasks including bricklaying and plastering.

The pregnant TV presenter’s current Sort Your Life Out series, in which she helps families declutter their homes, has been a huge hit with viewers.
