Star Trek: Discovery confirmed another big fan theory this week – that Captain Gabriel Lorca is in fact from the Mirror Universe.

Michael Burnham made the connection in 'Vaulting Ambition', realising that a lot of the traits – notably sensitivity to light – applied to him.

With the discovery that Lorca has been hiding his identity this entire time, it looks like things will truly be shaken up on the show.

That's at least according to star Mary Wiseman (Cadet Sylvia Tilly), who revealed that "allegiances" between characters may change.

"When it came out [that Lorca is actually from the Mirror Universe], I was still shocked because Jason [Isaacs] had done a good job - and so had all the writers - of creating a real person in the Prime Universe," she told TV Guide.

"All of our allegiances will be called into question," Wiseman added. "If Lorca is the bad guy [and] we're stuck here in this mirror universe, who do we look to to make the choices that we need to make in order to get out of here?"

Last year, Jason Isaacs, who plays Lorca, said he had enjoyed all the theories that fans had suggested.

"I mean, there's some really bonkers stuff out there! Some people have got bits right, no-one's got the whole thing right," he said.

"There's stuff about me as well, people think I'm a Klingon or a Romulan... lot of stuff about why I want Michael to be serving on the ship, or why I want Tyler to be serving on the ship.

"More power to them, people should continue to come up with these theories."

Star Trek: Discovery airs on CBS in the US and Netflix in the UK.
