The Met Gala bloomed in 2024 with a red carpet themed “The Garden of Time,” but no one seems to grow ’em like Thom Browne. The designer, an American classic who often plays with legnth and construction in his razor sharp suiting, assembled a diverse array of notable names to send up the Met stairs in his own creations. Ben wears a custom Thom Browne square-shoulder oversized coat in multi-color tartan cotton tweed, soft shoulder jacket and drop-crotch trousers in multi-color gingham boucle tweed all frayed and hand-painted in black with hand embroidered, satin stitched white bullion rose and black wing tip boots in pebble grain leather.

Cynthia wears custom Thom Browne black sequin and lurex embroidery draped over a black silk faille tailored jacket and skirt with silk satin lacing detail with an overlay of 2000 pink silk moiré petals and 3D beaded insects individually sewn all over with white pique shirt, black silk satin tie, and black patent longwing on dot platforms.
Rebecca Ferguson
Rebecca wears a custom Thom Browne black and white shiny sequin rep stripe high neck dress with exaggerated hip detail with a degrade of green and blue Swarovski crystal florets embroidered throughout. The embroidered flying black ravens are made from frayed raffia, petaled raffia, lurex, and sequins. Over the dress is a black silk moiré gathered cape with a blue moiré lining and matching embroidered raven appliques. Shoes are platform heeless saddle boots in black nubuck. 30 people were involved in the making and it took 8,500 hours to make with 60,000 crystals and 7,000 folded petal raffia and raw raffia frayed ravens.
Gigi Hadid
Gigi wears a custom Thom Browne shiny white micro bugle bead corset dress with a 3D yellow rose embroidered detail. Suspended from the exaggerated hip dress is a draped white silk moiré tailored jacket with black duchess satin tipping with an array of 3D yellow roses, green vines and thorns appliqued throughout. Embroidery techniques and components include bullion, crystals, silk satin stitch and lovebird beads with white pebble wingtip pumps. The white dress alone has 2,800,000 micro bugle beads and took 20 people 5,000 hours to embroider the dress while the skirt alone took 40 people a total of 8,500 hours to embroider. Over 70 people were involved in the making of this dress.

Alton wears a custom Thom Browne oversized tailcoat in black deconstructed denim tweed with grosgrain tipping and appliqué hand-beaded leaves, reconstructed jacket and pleated skirt in black plaid ribbon tweed with silk faille tipping and appliqué bullion roses, and classic trousers in black plaid ribbon tweed with frayed edges worn with silk satin cummerbund and platform astronaut boots in black and white patent leather.

Jaden wears a custom Thom Browne all-in-one modular coat in white denim, black wool mohair and cavalry twill, tipped in black grosgrain with a quilted white oxford shirt, applique white and pink dahlias with individually hand-pleated petals over trousers in black wool mohair with tuxedo stripe and black and white spectator boots with vinyl cover.

Queen Latifah wears a custom Thom Browne black peau de soie gathered coat with raffia and bugle bead fray tipping over a black sequin square shoulder dress with embroidered bird of paradise made from bullion, frayed raffia, and satin stitch chiffon with long wing brogue heels in black sequins.

Steven wears a Thom Browne made-to-measure fit 1 classic tuxedo suit in roses and ravens tonal black jacquard, tipped in black grosgrain with classic baby cable knitted vest in black cashmere with blucher cut tuxedo shoes in black patent leather and umbrella with gold raven handle.

Eboni wears a thom browne hourglass all-in-one chesterfield, sportcoat and pleated skirt in engineered checks of layered ribbons on black silk satin, wool crepe suiting, wool shetland and white silk faille and a square shoulder dress in black cavalry twill with red rose bullion appliqué and black patent longwing on dot platforms.
