Status Red Wind Warning Issued for Kerry as Storm Atiyah Makes Landfall in Ireland

A status red wind warning was issued for County Kerry in the southwest of Ireland on December 8 as Storm Atiyah made landfall.

Met Éireann, Ireland’s national weather service, said the storm would bring “severe and locally damaging gusts” from Sunday evening to the early hours of Monday morning.

Orange wind warnings were in place for several counties along Ireland’s west coast until Monday morning.

The United Kingdom was also expected to feel the effects of the storm, with Met Office forecasting gales of up to 70mph in southwestern areas.
