Lewis Freestone has completed his move from Cheltenham Town to Stevenage for a six-figure sum.

The 24-year-old spent four seasons with the Robins, helping them win the League Two title and spend three years in League One.

As revealed by Gloucestershire Live on June 3, League One side Stevenage had an initial bid rejected for the left-footed defender, but they are thought to have increased the offer to £100,000, with potential add-ons, which Cheltenham accepted.

Freestone started out at Peterborough United before a spell at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Boro boss Alex Revell said: "Lewis has all the attributes we are looking for in a Stevenage player.

"Capable of playing in various roles. He is an athletic, aggressive defender who can handle the ball.

"We tracked him all last season before making a bid and I’m delighted we’ve secured his signature."

Freestone made a total of 129 appearances for Cheltenham, scoring once in a draw at Portsmouth in November 2021.
