It’s win or bust for Stirling Albion in their final two games as they aim to scrap their way to League One football for another season.

The Binos arrested a run of three defeats on the spin with a nervous 0-0 draw against fellow strugglers Queen of the South at Forthbank on Saturday to set up a blockbuster end to the season.

Stirling currently sit in the relegation play-off spot, two points off eighth placed Annan – who claimed victory at bottom side Edinburgh City to stretch their gap.

It puts even more pressure on the Binos for their own trip to Meadowbank this weekend, knowing realistically only a win in that fixture will do ahead of a massive final-day clash with Annan.

Stirling enjoyed the majority of the chances against the Doonhamers, but the division’s lowest scorers had more troubles in front of goal.

Binos boss Darren Young admitted the match was a “cagey” affair – but praised his troops for keeping the back door closed after conceding ten in their previous three outings.

Young said: “It felt like a game no one wanted to lose at the end there. I felt we were the better team in the first half, Kieran Offord has a couple of good chances that on another day go into the net.

“It was a cagey game, both teams knew what was on the line, but again the positives for me are the work rate and the clean sheet to secure the point which could be a massive point for us come the end of the season.”

A win for Stirling against the Citizens could put them in a position to go above the Galabankies ahead of that critical last-day fixture, with Annan hosting unbeaten Falkirk in a tricky encounter.

Young insists the Binos squad are well aware of the assignment ahead of them.

“For us, we know what is needed now – win our last two games and we stay up, simple as that”, the Stirling manager added.

“The season is on these two cup finals to finish.

“The boys know how important these games are, I don’t think we should be in this position because we’ve had a pretty decent season but at the same time, if we don’t convert the chances we create, then you’re going to be punished for it.

“It’s all about scoring goals and whatever means we can do to get that over the line, try to find that right combination but it was a good point first and foremost.”
