Stormzy, along with the entire internet, was pleasantly surprised to learn that he’d been nominated for a BAFTA TV Award this week.

The grime artist has been included on the shortlist for Must-See Moment in next month’s BAFTA TV awards, after his brief cameo appearance in ITV’s Love Island reality show.

The recent BRIT Award winner made a brief appearance on the show to give the guys some much needed advice on live performing in the show’s talent show.

His tip to the Love Island lads was to lose the mobile phones because, let’s face it, you’d never seen the man himself rapping while reading lyrics off an iPhone.

The announcement was made on the evening of 3 April, by BAFTA, who made known the entire list of category nominees.

Other nominations included Ariana Grande’s One Love Manchester, efforts on Blue Planet II, and Game of Thrones.

And Stormzy himself was as shocked as anyone to see his name up there.

All the 24-year-old could muster was a bemused ‘wtf’, which was probably the perfect reaction.

And it wasn’t just Stormzy who couldn’t believe it…

BAFTA described Stormzy’s cheeky cameo as ‘unforgettable’ – and it seems plenty agreed with them.

And with the rest of the nominees in all the other categories announced today, Love Island was also included in the Reality and Constructed Factual list, doubling the show’s chances of actually becoming a BAFTA-winning TV programme.

In February, the musician stole the show at the 2018 BRITS, after winning Best British Male Solo Artist and British Album, before seeing the show out with an emotional performance of Blinded By Your Grace Part 2.
