Yahoo News Streaming Innovation Alliance Adds New Members to Its Ranks
The Streaming Innovation Alliance, which counts most major direct-to-consumer services as members, has added six new platforms to its ranks.
The alliance was initially formed in September 2023, with members including Netflix, Max, The Walt Disney Co., Paramount+, Peacock, PlutoTV and more. The new members are Demand Africa (by The Africa Channel), FedNet, In The Black Network, Radiant Technologies, SkinsPlex Native America On Line and TVEI Network.

The new members are meant to broaden the offerings in the coalition, which now include live coverage of the US Congress and African and Native American storytelling. The goal of the alliance is to advocate for federal and state policies that benefit the streaming industry.
“SIA’s new members embody the unique, diverse options and qualities that make streaming so popular,” said Charles Rivkin, chairman and CEO of the Motion Picture Association, which helped organize SIA. “We’re proud to welcome each of them to SIA’s ranks and look forward to working together telling streaming’s story to policymakers and the public across the country.”
Former Republican Rep. Fred Upton and former Democratic acting FCC chair Mignon Clyburn are the senior advisers for the coalition.
In addition to weighing in on new policies on streaming, the group has also worked to educate lawmakers on human-curated professional streaming services versus user-generated-content video platforms and other social media platforms. In March, the group held a Meet the Streamers event in Washington D.C., which also included an NCAA basketball watch party, meant to highlight live sports on streaming. This summer, the group plans to hold an olnine event on the technology behind streaming services.
