Strictly’s Anton du Beke says Seann Walsh and Katya Jones were “kindly maked”

Strictly Come Dancing‘s Anton Du Beke thinks that Seann Walsh and Katya Jones were too generously marked by the show’s judges, following the pair’s drunken kiss.

The professional dancer appeared on This Morning today (October 17) to talk about his new book, but hosts Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield soon turned their attention to the latest pair to be struck by the ‘Strictly curse‘.

While he agreed with Schofield that the pair shouldn’t have been kicked off the show after being pictured kissing each other and cheating on their partners, he did say that he felt they received “higher marks than the dance deserved”.

“It did have a great performance value,” he continued. “And Katya’s choreography is always brilliant, but I thought technically it wasn’t tremendous.”

Schofield asked Du Beke if he thought the only reason they survived was because they were kindly marked, to which he replied: “No, definitely not. But I think the audience at home have a bigger role to play this year than ever before.”

This comes after viewers accused the show’s judges of over-marking Walsh and Jones on Saturday (October 13), with some claiming that they want to keep them on the show for the ratings.

Du Beke and his celebrity partner Susannah Constantine were the first pair to be eliminated from this year’s series.

The professional dancer has often been paired with poorly performing celebrities, which has prompted rumours that he might actually be quitting the show.

However, Du Beke has rubbished those claims, explaining in a recent tweet that the reports are “absolute rubbish”, and that he’d “NEVER quitting” the show.
