The Strictly Come Dancing judges have come up with one more cheeky twist for this weekend's all-important series finale.

Following Sunday's semi-final, Alexandra Burke, Debbie McGee, Gemma Atkinson, Joe McFadden and their professional partners will have one last shot at clinching the glitterball trophy when they enter the BBC ballroom on Saturday.

To do so, they'll need to rise to a challenge that Shirley Ballas and the other judges have set for them. The judges want the Final Four to each revisit a dance from earlier in the series, to show how far they've come.

Shirley and fellow judge Darcey Bussell gave Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two presenter Zoe Ball the lowdown on Monday (December 11) about what they'll be expecting from the final four.

"I think the couples [will be happy with the twist]," Darcey said. "These are obviously dances that they did well, but they were just very early in the series. They've got plenty of [room to improve].

"They've all come so far. Just imagine what they could do with these dances from earlier in the season."

"I think everyone will be quite excited with what we've picked," Shirley agreed.

We'll have to wait until Tuesday to find out exactly what the judges have in store...

Saturday night's finale will wrap up Shirley's first series as a replacement for Len Goodman. So, how is she feeling about stepping into his shoes now she's almost completed a series?

"I miss him. He's an icon," Shirley said. "With Darcey, Bruno and Craig, I've had an absolutely amazing time. Everybody's treated me so well. It's just felt phenomenal."

Shirley admitted last week that she's yet to make any decisions about her future on Strictly Come Dancing, with this weekend's finale sure to play a big part in deciding whether or not she'll stick around in 2018.

The Strictly Come Dancing grand finale airs on Saturday (December 16) at 6.30pm on BBC One.
