Subway rolls out key change and urges customers to act before May 14

Subway is rolling out a key change to UK restaurants from mid-May. Subway is giving its loyalty scheme a "makeover" with "bigger rewards" and "surprise treats" for customers across the UK from the middle of this month.

A spokesperson for Subway said ahead of the loyalty scheme rules change: "We value the loyalty of our guests and we’re excited that our new Subway Rewards programme will offer them a more personalised and unique loyalty experience.

"As points from our previous rewards system won't transfer automatically, we want to ensure everyone has an opportunity to redeem their points. Therefore we encourage all our guests to enjoy their rewards ahead of our new programme launching on May 15."

How the current scheme works is by earning points: You earn one point for every 10p you spend at the chain – in other words, you get 10 points per £1 spent. Then points can be redeemed for specific rewards. For example, 100 points gets you a hot drink, 200 points gets you a side, such as nachos, and 1,000 points gets you a footlong sandwich.

The new scheme, set to launch on Wednesday 15 May, will work by earning points. You'll earn 10 points per £1 on spending of up to £149.99 in a calendar year, 11 points per £1 spent between £150 and £349.99, and 12 points per £1 spent above that.

Points will now take the form of 'Subway Cash', which you'll be able to redeem towards anything on the Subway menu. Each 150 points will get you £1 off your in-store order, and you'll need to redeem at least £1 at a time, though there will be no minimum spend required.

Customers have until the end of Tuesday 14 May to spend any points you've built up – or lose them entirely. After this, Subway will switch to a new app-only loyalty scheme and any remaining points you have WON'T be moved over.
