Though we may remember Ruck's character fondly from the John Hughes film, he said that the film was a "pain in [his] ass" for many years.
"That movie came out in '86 and then I stumbled around New York. In 1988, I did a pilot in Thailand about a photojournalist in Vietnam and I really wanted it to go. In a network way, it was like Succession. Things weren't going great. So, the Bueller thing got to be a pain in my ass when people would bring it up during that period and I would go, 'I'm done'," Ruck continued.
However, Ruck's career took off after being cast in Keanu Reeves' Speed and in ABC sitcom Spin City, as well as Star Trek: Generations before landing his current role in Succession, where he plays the often dismissed delusional eldest sibling of the powerful Roy family.
More recently, Ruck appeared in Netflix' Sierra Burgess Is A Loser and has previously guest starred on a number of popular TV shows, including The Catch, NCIS, Hawaii Five-O, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Rules of Engagement, Ghost Whisperer, Scrubs and One Day At A Time.
Succession's latest season was delayed due to the impact of the COIVD-19 pandemic but Ruck revealed in November last year that the show had begun filming, meaning fans would see it released this month.
