Succession writer shares code behind latest twistHome Box Office (HBO)

Succession season 4 spoilers follow.

Succession writer Georgia Pritchett has shared the secret code behind the latest episode twist.

This past weekend's instalment, 'Connor's Wedding', left fans reeling as a planned family reunion quickly turned into an emergency when Logan Roy collapsed and died while flying to Sweden on a private jet.

The HBO show went to extreme lengths to keep the monumental secret from being spoiled, including filming a fake scene to make fans think another character was going to die.

Succession's production team had their own way of protecting the twist, with writer and executive producer Georgia Pritchett having now revealed that Curb Your Enthusiasm star Larry David's name was used as a code phrase.

"This was a tough secret to keep! We decided it in the #Succession writers' room in Jan 22. So nobody found out we used code on the whiteboards," Georgia tweeted.

"'Larry David' meant 'Logan Dies'. So episode 403 said Connor's Wedding, Larry David. Mind you, that would also have been a great episode."

Given Larry's shaky history with funerals on Curb Your Enthusiasm, it's a wonder the Succession team were able to pull off such a memorable twist without it being spoiled!

The episode has been a smash in so many ways, with critics heaping praise and a record number of viewers watching it on HBO since it premiered on Sunday night.

Viewing figures could rise even further in the final episodes of season four as the Roy children jockey for control over their late father's business empire.

Succession's fourth and final season airs on Sundays on HBO in the US, and Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
